I bought fabric!

bethzyllaI should really have a handler when it comes to fabric shopping.
My stash is extensive, but it's really hard for me to pass up a good deal on fabric. In my defense, everything that you see here was carefully selected after waiting a day (more, in some cases.) Since no one else claimed them and they're already telling me what they want to be, I grabbed them up!
This cute plaid will eventually become an 1860's sheer dress. I've probably got enough to do two dresses, so maybe another era will suggest itself. The colors pop more when it's got natural light on it, but I was fresh out of that this evening.
I took a bit of a chance on this one. As with a lot of Wal-Mart's clearance fabric, it was labeled 'undetermined fabric content.' I'm hoping it's all or mostly natural fibers so I can bleach and dye to my heart's content. I thought the combination of swiss dot and pulled thread stripes was pretty cool and would be great for Regency.
This was a clearance shirting I got from Denver Fabrics. I just think it's super cute and it'll probably be a summer top or skirt next year.
This is another Denver Fabrics find, a light and airy semi-sheer cotton. I bought it thinking it would be an 18th century petticoat. It still may, but it's so soft and pretty it could work as a frothy Edwardian shirtwaist or a Regency gown. This one exceeded my expectations!
This is totally shiny and synthetic, but I really want to make it into an 18th century petticoat. It's not white or black like we're used to seeing in portraits that use this type of striped sheer, but I'm OK with that. Realistically, what would have happened to those sheer whites that saw a little too much frolicking? Probably a dye pot. 'Nuff said.
I've got a textured silk in an odd dusty pink color that will look good with that gray. In fact, I made a zone front gown a few years ago with it:
This time I want to make a jacket with the rosy silk so I can show off those cool sheer stripes!
