So I did a little poking around on Pinterest last night hoping to get some inspiration for a Titanic era outfit.  Since there's only a month left before our guild outing, it seems logical that I should get my rear in gear and come up with a plan.  Since I having absolutely nothing from this era, it could be fairly time consuming to put together a good complete outfit.  I'll need everything from the skin out, including accessories.  That doesn't usually faze me, but...

I can't find a single pic, pattern, or idea that inspires me.

Many Pinterest boards are a combination of earlier Edwardian and teens era stuff, and I'm drawn to the earlier stuff so much more!  The shape of the skirts and the exaggerated small waists are really appealing, but that totally changes in the teens.  I like the teens style on other people and when I see it on TV, but I'm having trouble picturing it working on me.  Maybe I need to go back and rewatch some early Downton Abbey, Upstairs/Downstairs, or Titanic and see if something jumps out at me.

I actually considered making a traditional maid's outfit - black dress, white cap, cuffs and collar, and a very large apron.  That option is still on the table but it feels like a Plan D sort of thing.  At least I've got black boots already, so it'd be one less accessory to figure out.

I know I have Simplicity 2581, their version of a Model T duster, in my pattern stash.  I'll admit this era is not my area of expertise, but I have a feeling that pattern is nowhere near historically accurate.  I think it could work in a pinch though.

I'll have to go through my stash and books more thoroughly and see what kind of pattern baseline I can pull together.  My sewing area is still a mess from the Georgian Picnic - I haven't set foot in there since before I left for Indiana!  LOL  Maybe that's a good indoor project for today since it's pretty chilly outside.
